I sometimes think that hookrider's forceful binary view is a much more direct way to deal with it, as patience and reason has been tried almost daily for months with that head that seems full of oatmeal.
Like bill maher has said.. we share the country with some people who do not share the long established morals and ethics of our country, and they are trump's core. Facts are irrelevant to people without critical thinking skills who read fabricated information and believe it. Now that there is the internet to connect the extremists on the right, they have exposed themselves as to just how many bigots, sexists, racists we share this country with. Hillary may have overestimated how many of the riff-raff there are, but not by much, if any.
And when that gibbon-faced bastard talks about a 2nd amendment solution, some mornings I wish they would try the insurrection; I am a grandfather with little to lose and would join eagerly in putting down the obvious threat to the republic. For all the firepower in the world that they have amassed in the past 8 years is no match for the collective brainpower of the good-hearted people... Give a bunch of trumpian dumbasses a lot of guns and ammo, and you still have a bunch of dumbasses.
Liberals that are armed generally do not worship guns, and in my experience do not view the world through the sight of a gun, but are more capable of using them than the deplorables are even capable of imagining, for it is ideals that win even against drum magazines. And I believe that the trumpians do not represent most traditional republicans either... Ironically, it is the extreme right that might just unite the rest of america again (against them), and allow us to go back to compromise governance. I think both sides are really tired of the extreme polarization but cannot find a path out of it... I think it could accomplished unwittingly by the deplorables. Even Mickey might serve a purpose in life, even if it is just as a statistic in the quashed rebellion.
Not to mention that the U.S. military just might be able to take out a bunch of ragtags with small arms. Military people would not fire on americans, unless the sub-americans were firing at them, IMHO. So I say let them live in their fantasy worlds, but if they start trying to use force to try to deny realities and threaten to use force to inflict it on the majority, they will bite off way more than they can chew. Since they do not want to accept peaceful transfer of power in our grand tradition, the horrible idea of their armed insurrection might be a necessary emetic to reset our society. Since the NSA almost assuredly has data on what folks are saying online, I wish these guys would just vote, have their candidate defeated, and suck it up. But not threaten the rest of us with revolution, and to jail any opposition such as Hillary. Anyone who suborns that crap, such as Mickey, is not worth the time of polite discussion, he has proven he is incapable of that at any level above about the 4th grade.
