They always have a little over 1 month gap between the record date and payment date. Why? To check and verify all shareholders on record before distributing the cash, which takes some time.

For example, this was the same process for Qtr 3:

DEARBORN, Mich., July 14, 2016 – The Board of Directors of Ford Motor Company declared a third quarter dividend of $0.15 per share on the company’s outstanding Class B and common stock. The third quarter dividend is the same level as the regular dividends paid in the first and second quarters of 2016.

Ford’s capital strategy is to maintain an investment grade balance sheet, finance the One Ford plan and deliver shareholder value.

The third quarter dividend is payable on Sept. 1, 2016 to shareholders of record at the close of business on July 28, 2016."
