The concept has been the same for going on 17 years now - playing video with "no plugin". First it was using the Java Virtual Machine, then JavaScript with a proprietary codec, and now JavaScript with a standard codec. Same "value proposition" which gets less relevant each year. 17 years ago when I had to install RealPlayer just to watch a clip it made a bit of sense. Not anymore.

IMHO any value add is around whatever functionality they can add in (eg being able to click on a coke can in a Coke ad or whatever), or their "video survey" stuff. But I don't see any evidence of these jokers delivering anything anyone would pay for.

IMHO they should call it quits and pour 100% of R&D and marketing into PlayMPE to preserve that business and god forbid grow it.

How much money has Steve wasted on marketing and development of Clipstream since 1999? Has to be $10-20M if not more.

The business isn't worthless but the company is run like a clown car IMHO.
