Pixie dust? ... Although a colorful description that satisfies the skeptical point of view, I think you have a misunderstanding of the product. The GaAs PV cell is the core, the photo absorbing layer sandwiched by a coating of the catalytic and protective layers. This heterostructure should be considered the particle. It can be subdivided down until it satisfies the audiences definition of particle but it shouldn't have to. It is easier to work with the size it is now. In the incarceration used in the video this particle uses a GaAs based photovoltaic cell. However, the patented or patent pending (i haven't checked recently) protective and catalytic materials can be applied to other photoelectric pn structures that are cheaper. This demonstration was of the novel components necessary to facilitate effective and efficient electrolysis.
