Julian Dates, huh? Here's an interesting conversion

The FDA letter was sent to DEWM on March 27, 2014:

http://www.fda.gov/ICECI/EnforcementActions/WarningLetters/ucm390967.htm

We have to assume that they stopped manufacturing after that date, or if they thought they could fly under the RADAR for a few months, completed any production runs in process while they started negotiating with the FDA.

Do you still have one of those cans, and if so, what's the code on the bottom?

The full code on the box shown at MildWildCo is E6137EV0714, or possibly E6137FV0714.

That doesn't match the Julian Date code formats I've seen, but there is such a thing as a Modifed Julian date, which uses five digits.

The only problem with this is that there is no five digit sequence in the number stamped on the box.

I had a thought, based on some other date codes on other non-food products: What if the E in E6137 actually represents a number? And since "E" is the fifth letter in the alphabet, what if it represent the number "5", and the Julian Date on that box is "56137"

Below is a link to a Modified Julian Day converter. Note that if you go to this converter, the 53005 default date in the converter begins with a "5", and converts to 1/1/2004. If I input the MJD at 56137, it returns the date July 29, 2012. If the 0714 at the end of the code on the box represents an expiration date, then that's two years (Lean's shelf life) after the calculated 7/29/2012 manufacturing date.

Perhaps this is purely coincidental, but I don't think so.
