Avanci shares a commitment with the IoT ecosystem to make the latest standard wireless technology available in a way that is fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory (FRAND). This well-established industry principle ensures that those using the technology in their products have access at terms that are well-aligned with their needs, and those creating wireless technology receive a fair return on their investment.

New patents of existing and new Avanci members are automatically included in licenses. There is no incentive to wait for the Avanci patent pool to get larger.

The big mystery is how the collected royalties will be split, and if that will lead to legal actions. I guess it is easier to fight over distribution of collected funds than fighting to receive the funds.

If the concept works for IoT, it can perhaps be extended to other devices like smart phones.
