The price action today wasn't based on bid support, but rather timing. I've seen this many times. Right at the start of the day, the MMs becoming live slowly. Sometimes a market order is in the night before and triggers before all the MMs come up for the day (about a 15 second lag sometimes). That creates a quick spike down (or up). It doesn't impact strength of the stock, just a timing thing. As you will notice, the bid and ask are the same as before. So any buy or sell will reset the price to 'normal' levels.
