Debate effect on the market
According to studies dating back to 1980, U.S. stocks trade lower the week after a debate 80% of the time with an average 1.5% loss for the S&P 500. Investors are always nervous about major elections but this time the stakes are extremely high for not only the U.S. economy but the world.
Since a Trump debate win creates more uncertainty this would
create more selling.
Market is selling now due to more selling in foreign markets.
