I don't think you should be surprised not to have a counterbid yet. Unless someone was already thinking about making a bid, the GE offer is likely to have come as a complete surprise and there is no small amount of figuring that would be required for someone to decide to make a counterbid and at what level. If one is forthcoming, I would expect it to come at the last minute, not the first.
