I remain firm in my conviction: a bat that crosses the plate and is called a STRIKE when it's clear the batter has checked his swing...is nonsense and the rule should be changed. If a hitter swings at a pitch, "strikes" at it, everyone knows. The bat crossing the plate, when a batter hits the deck to avoid getting hit in the face [and I've seen this a few times] that is called a strike, is absurd.
