Regarding reusing plates ----- I think something significant is being missed in the conversation. I agree with Chad that once fired upon a plat should be replaced. After all, the current ceramic products once fired upon, or even dropped, become mostly worthless. HOWEVER<,it is hugely comforting that the plate protecting my body can take several hits without failing, because I may be hit several times before I get out of the line of fire and get anywhere near a new plate. I assure you that wearers of body armor do not carry new plates around with them to replace a plate just hit. Even if one could carry that much backup secondary material around with them all the time, who would have the time to replace a hit plate when you very busy seeking cover or advantage over the assailant who is continuing shooting me.

Of course, I would much prefer wearing a plate that can take multiple shots. I would also like to carry a plate that will not break or shatter if I have to dive to the ground where the plate will break on impact with the ground, bed of a truck, a railing, log, wall, or other hard matter.

And what when I am in the rice patty five miles from base when I get hit? With ceramic, I am not a dead man with the next shot. With Kryron I can take another shot.
