Worst Park Experience...Denali

...there are many reasons to visit Alaska, for me Denali isn't one of them. Cars are NOT allowed in the park for god-knows-what-reason with only bumpy can't see ahead tour buses to take you over the dusty roads trying to catch a glimpse of some animal a quarter of a mile away.

Seems they are rethinking the ridiculous exclusion, but too late for me.

If you are planning a trip make sure you can drive the roads!

Did have a clear day viewing Mt. McKinney which has been renamed Denali once again. The odds are 3:1 AGANIST seeing the peak due to clouds.

THE most exciting moment in Alaska occurred when my wife and I drove our compact rental car under a huge bull moose who wandered onto the road and stood stock still with his hind feet on the solid shoulder line and fronts on the dashed line in the center of the highway forming a perfect moose bridge to drive under.

The chance of this happening and NOT dying is probably about 1:10,000,000 so I wouldn't recommend it...by the way the signs that tell you not to drive at night when moose are active are there for a reason--which of course I didn't pay any attention to.

It's better to be lucky than good.
