My Best US/Canada Park Experience.

...having now earned my US Park merit badge having traveled from Alaska to Hawaii, Maine to Florida and all points in between, if I was to do anyone of them again this would be my choice. Glacier+Banff+Jasper making the 'park' a 700 mile loop drive from Kalispell Montana.

Be sure to pack 30' stream pepper spray and attach bells to your ankles since bears have piss poor hearing and can't smell you approaching upwind. In Jasper I left my spray in the car and one mile out of town surprised a pair of ax-handle butt sized grizzles which stood up ten feet ten feet from my wife and I.

...backed up facing them very slowly and told the wife 'NO, you can't take a picture of them!!!' After moving twenty feet away they both dropped down and ran into the forest.

Standing in front of us I mentally wrote our obituary for the Jasper daily: Lower 48 couple found mauled to death on trail one mile out of town...pepper spray left in car.
