Woman, 74, foils Redmond carjacking with foot stomp

REDMOND, Wash. -- On a day when Redmond police were warning residents to stay inside because of an armed carjacker at large, one woman would have none of it.
Police say the suspect tried to carjack the vehicle of a 74-year-old woman in the Trader Joe's parking lot about 11:45 a.m. Monday morning.
But she stomped on his foot, and he ran away.
Police said she later told police: "It's not on my agenda to have my car stolen today."
At 11:55 a.m. police went to a report of someone trying to carjack vehicles from three different people in an apartment complex parking lot. The suspect left in another car, which was crashed. That car had been stolen from Seattle.
Despite a police search with officers and a dog, the carjacker got away. And police said they were no longer urging citizens to stay inside.
Police had issued the alert earlier, saying the suspect was on foot and likely has a pistol.
