Great choice. For 25+ years I've owned the Vanguard Total Stock Market Portfolio, a conventional mutual fund. One of the earliest index funds. About a decade ago I added SPY an Exchange Traded index fund.

I stupidly hold on to three old managed mutual funds. My index funds have vastly outperformed them. At least in recent years my individual blue chip stocks have beaten the S&P 500. They're all Buffett-type large cap growth stocks.

I don't own BRK, btw... probably because it doesn't pay a dividend.
