I've felt this way, too. Generally if a larger cap component of an industry falls out of favor or even fails, other component companies of that industry benefit by gaining market share. So, "net effect" when smoothed out should be nearly zero. There may be some immediate effects that are unpleasant for the Buy and Hold investor, but the AIM user should actually benefit in the long run by accumulating sector shares while the disruption is going on. When the dust settles the AIM user should outshine Mr. Buynhold.
