it's all about space, satellites, and who can put them down first. i'd love to see a few thousand low end, low tech airplanes in reserve, rather than one f-35, for the same cost, should God help us, our sats go out before they can launch whatever kind of offensive, maybe have a few of your reactor plants overheat and dams break via hacking first as a distraction, or two cleverly aimed emps.

maybe those non internet connected 8 inch floppy drive nukes might be a God send should the worst happen, but then you are still counting on a human to launch, not an easy thing i would guess.
