Red Sox 7, Yankees 4

Red Sox’ David Ortiz, Thorn in Yankees’ Side for a Bit Longer, Digs Into Them Again

By DAVID WALDSTEIN

Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz hitting a run-scoring single during the first inning. He added a double in the sixth and scored on a sacrifice fly. Ortiz’s 20-year career will end after this season.

Boston’s Ortiz, who has always managed to get crucial hits against the Yankees at critical junctures, had an R.B.I. and scored a run in the Red Sox’ victory.
