Now, here is where I disagree. If you end the conservator regime, you then have two businesses earning core income of at least 10 billion per year. Forget the non-cash accounting for derivatives in any one quarter. Two businesses like this can raise capital in the public market and not be insolvent. They can also free up 25 billion in excess loss reserves to add to capital. They then can start paying dividends on jr pfd shares are more likely redeem high dividend pfds. Sorry no dividends for you, but $22 per share in capital gains as a "consolation" prize.
Now how many shares outstanding will these companies have and what regulatory burdens and social policy goals are an open question? Now if fmcki is redeemed at $25, I will have to be "satisfied" with 10 times my money. For those who were smarter than me and or had more courage, they may get even greater returns with the common. I will congratulate them! They deserve it and I will not be jealous!
