PETX: I became interested in the drug/medicine side of animal health initially, and as an investment, from Sheff's board, but even earlier from a very profitable investment we had made in Ocata [OCAT], later to be bought by Japan's Astellas. The following video of a talk by OCAT's CSO Dr. Robert Lanza is illuminating; Dr. Lanza is speaking in NYC in May[2015] about ongoing stem cell and regenerative medicine activities carried out by OCAT:

I was amazed at the scope of regenerative medicine contemplated, first demonstrated initially, and successfully, in animal subjects as a prelude to human clinical trials. As you will see from the video, Dr. Lanza and his colleagues were concentrating on any and all diseases in organs common to animals and mankind, whether blindness, kidney, bladder, lupus, MS, AD, Crohn's, and others, using therapeutic cells they had developed.

I am contemplating writing Dr. Rhodes suggesting a licensing/development cooperation/collaboration be established with Ocata/Astellas in animal health. Dr. Lanza could easily be sold on the idea, IMO, and Astellas is likely more interested in human health. The R&D collaboration could be interesting.
