JL, last one on this topic. I guess I was not clear in my previous post:

I didn't say convert guys shorted via puts. I said if you think we get a short squeeze, you must believe you get it from the retail guys. Not sure they know risk/reward.

I said, Institutional guys (not involved in the convert) would unlikely be short shares without a hedge in place due to the outsize move possibility. So either they are short shares + long calls (no need for short squeeze) or they are long puts. Don't see other options.

I said, Institutional guys (involved in the convert) are short the actual shares. However, the short interest is around 15M shares and even if you assume all of them are convert guys, you still have a lot more shares being assigned long from the convert. Therefore, the recent selling pressure until guys adjust their positions.

Collapsing position on a long/short in the same account is basic practice. Your position is considered "boxed" if you are long/short the same security and you pick up the phone and tell your prime to collapse the box.

Just trying to share my experience with converts and boxed positions but I don't have any intentions to come between you and Mallaby. Moving on. wink
