If you are never going to sell because you are afraid of economic collapse or just like being a coin collector then buying physical is what you want to do but otherwise the spread between buying and selling is a really big hurdle, at least for me.
While the junior miners and various leveraged funds would have made a lot of money this year, they also had a lot of risk at the beginning of the year.
So I am partial to SLW ans RGLD. They have enough gain when things are good but are stable enough when things are bad. Just as importantly, they allow me to take gains and then buy at a bargain with very little spread in price.
But to each their own
