I got curious about the epipen controversy, so I did a search for the cost of epipens in Canada. Here in the USA, Mylan labs says they can't sell a two pack for less than $600 and blame the high cost on our heathcare system. Of course that is true, to some extent. First off, our government is not allowed to negotiate price with the drug companies. Second, they say that if you buy a drug from a Canadian pharmacy they can't guarantee the potency. Bullshit!
Mylan labs sells the exact same epipen in New Zealand for $131.11 per pen. In Canada, the epipen is manufactured by Pfizer and sells for $158.52 per pen. This translates to $262.22 for a two pack in New Zealand, and $317.04 for a two pack in Canada. Now, does my government want me to think that Pfizer and Mylan manufacture a substandard epipen for sales in other countries??????
