And if it goes to 1 cent again, those same people will get scared (again) and not buy.

You either are willing to gamble here or not. 1 cent vs 2.7 cents should make no difference as its all a gamble.

Also, assuming those who financed the take out of the converts (assuming again) have "strong hands" and won't be dumping their shares (which is logical as there would be no difference between them and allowing the convert holder to continue), then the chances of it getting beaten down much further are slim.

The reason it hit one and sub one was because the convert holder was dumping indiscriminately.

That issue is now gone.
