To funny... I own a patent in my name, been through this process and very familiar!!


Let me just explain to you one more time.


When filing a patent and drawing the description you have the opportunity to claim and cover every possible scinario where it can be changed or tweaked and protect that area. If a patent is filed correctly then there is no loop hole!!!!! Period. That's why it's patent protected!!!


Now let's say Toshiba decides to make a meter and can't get around that one little part that is covered in the patent description but decide to take a chance and mass produce meters hoping no one notices. Well guess what... They have to pay big time for every single sale, and thanks for the free marketing!!
Happens all the time and that is called patent infringement sujitta.
