Some of this is due to increased online buying as more and more people have got comfortable with it.

Yet, one can not blame this all on that type of buying this is another sign all those phony numbers your government puts out there about the economy is just that ...... a LIE!

At least 7 big retail chains are closing dozens of their stores this year

Macy’s joined the growing list of retailers across the country shutting down storefronts due to decreasing profit Thursday. It joined the likes of Sports Authority, Walmart, Ralph Lauren, Aeropostale and Kmart/Sears.
The retail giant, the largest department store chain in the country, announced Thursday it would close about 100 stores next year, about 14 percent of its total storefronts. The company plans to focus on increasing its online investments.

Macy's Plans To Close 100 Stores

After closing some 100 stores, there will be 666 Macy stores and 38 Bloomingdale’s left. Bloomingdale’s is operated by the Macy’s company. Many of the stores, which have not been specified, are expected to close in 2017.

Earlier this year, Kmart, which is part of the Sears Holdings company, announced it would be closing at least 50 of its “unprofitable” stores, including Sears, across the country, the San Francisco Chronicle reported in February.

Sports Authority is closing the remaining 460 stores it has left to its name after filing for bankruptcy in March.
Walmart will close 154 stores in the U.S., including 29 locations in Texas and Ralph Lauren will close 50 stores according to USA Today and news archives.

Kohl's plans to close 18 stores and Aeropostale filed for bankruptcy in May and announced it would be closing 154 stores, according to USA Today.
