Calls bet Canadian Solar will shine again
Traders are looking for Canadian Solar to bounce after quarterly results this week.

optionMONSTER's monitoring program shows that more than 2,100 August 13 calls were purchased for $0.60 to $0.86 today. Volume was more than 8 times open interest at the strike, indicating that new positions were established.

Long calls lock in the price where investors can buy stock, allowing them to profit from a rally with limited capital at risk. Their cheap cost can also generate significant leverage on a percentage basis if shares move in the right direction. (See our Education section)

CSIQ is up 2.42 percent to $13.23 in afternoon trading but is down 24 percent in the last three months. The solar-wafer manufacturer is scheduled to report earnings in pre-market hours on Thursday.

Overall option volume in the name is twice its full-session average so far today. Calls outnumber puts by a bullish 12-to-1 ratio.
