Pokémon players from more than 35 countries will converge on San Francisco for the 2016 Pokémon World Championships from August 19–21. The Pokémon World Championships will feature players who qualified throughout the 2016 Championship Series season, all competing to be crowned the next Pokémon TCG, Video Game, or Pokkén Tournament World Champion...and for a piece of the combined prize pool of more than $500,000.

Pokémon GO has officially pulled in over $250 million in profits from just the United Kingdom, the United States, and Germany, according to a report from Financial Times.

Less than a week ago, we heard that Pokémon GO made over $200 million in its first month on the market (the period between July 6th and August 6th), giving it the most successful first month in the history of the App Store. This means that, in the six days between August 6th and August 12th, British, American, and German Pokémon GO players spent well over $50 million on the game.


Pokémon GO is currently available in 72 countries around the world. Extrapolating the data from the U.S.A., U.K., and Germany to the rest of the globe, it's very likely that the game will be pulling in a few billion dollars every year from in-app purchases.
