Chopin's brilliance could compare to any star or galaxy. He was so inventive and poetic. Fantastically fluid technique. Some of those 'runs' if you will, were so serpentine and ear catching. And of course the harmonies he came up with, and the masterful use of the left hand. Breathtaking, really...

Have read many books on him, and the best recollection that I thought was so cool was that when with his students teaching, he NEVER played a piece the same way twice! He was just so dang adept and skillful with his hands and fingers, so that when combined with his compositional nature, it's just fascinating piano.

It was the same for me when I watched Jesse Winchester play piano in the little cellar studio in Montreal, where we jammed, just the two of us. Me on a truncated drum set and he at an old upright he had back then. Though he never played his own songs, always stuff he remembered and enjoyed. However he played those songs with such flair it was a blast to see and hear.
