I was originally trained as a concert pianist. Matter of fact I played that 1st nocturne! One of my favorites!

It took a minimum of 2 hours a day (after college, 4 hours while still in school) to put in a practice session that was by any measure inadequate, but when balancing the demands of work was the best I could do.

I played the mandatory program of Bach Prelude and Fugue (b flat minor) Beethoven Sonata (Opus 31,#2) Chopin Etudes (opus 10) but wimped out on the 20th century and settled for a Brahms intermezzo. Never could get my head around tonality built on a 4th (as opposed to the customary thirds).

I finally gave up trying to connect the baroque, classical, romantic and 20th century periods, and became a Chopin specialist.

Those were the days!
