Yes, I do a lot of these dividend capture plays, but agree, there is a lot of confusion as to exactly how this is done. I thought the first line in my original post stated it clearly, but to reiterate:

Short answer: one must own the stock at least one day prior to the ex-div date to be entitled to receive the dividend. . . period.
