or if you prefer the full title of the story in Saturday’s Washington Post, Meet Tim Kaine’s wife, a longtime child welfare advocate and Virginia’s secretary of education ..

If you listened to the event in Miami today, you got a glimpse of her at the end, and learned a little bit about Anne Holton Kaine, daughter and spouse of Virginia governors, and like her husband and both the Obamas, a graduate of Harvard Law School (and like Michelle a graduate of Princeton).

As a side note, once Anne Holton became a juvenile court judge, she did not appear at any political events with Tim, because Virginia’s judges are required to be non-partisan. On the night he was elected governor, she resigned, and appeared with him at the victory party.
I covered an event in 2008 where she introduced Michelle Obama IIRC at George Mason University. She was herself a dynamic speaker.
I know many folks in Virginia who think that WHEN (not if) her husband becomes Vice President, she ought to be offered his seat, although I doubt she would take it, preferring to focus as Second Lady on the issue dear to her heart.
Her father, Linwood Holton, who grew up in Big Stone Gap in Southwest Virginia, is one of the most remarkable men in modern Virginia history. Tim Kaine considers Linwood his political hero, and with good reason. Now 93, he is still sharp. Having had a few occasions to have brief conversations with him a few years back, and knowing his commitment to do what is right, I can get a clear sense of her commitment to social justice, beginning her own work career as a Legal Aid lawyer and going on from there.
Our current First and Second Ladies are both remarkable and accomplished women. Dr. Jill Biden teaches at Northern Virginia Community College.
We are about to have our first First Husband. Of course his accomplishments are well known.
Get to know the wife of our future VP. It will help you understand how down to earth Tim Kaine is, how devoted they are to each other, which if you were watching was obvious at the event in Miami.
We will have a great team this campaign. Two candidates, two spouses from the current administration, two candidates, two spouses from the next administration.
