I agree with that. My biggest concern was their focus on the qualifications of someone "skilled in the art" and then he somehow isn't smart enough to notice they were trying to discredit him by suggesting he didn't have the qualifications he described - basically trapped him with logic a grade 5 uses in the playground.

As you, I'm not sure if the judges see through this legal gaming vs them saying oh well he (pesce) wasn't really skilled in the art so is expert testimony isn't valuable.

I was a bit disheartened by the simple fact that the lawyers clearly didn't prep him well.
