President Hollande: 84 Dead in Nice Attack; 50 Critically Injured

PARIS--French President François Hollande said Friday the 84 killed in the terror attack, include many foreigners and young children, while 50 people were in a critical condition.

The French leader was speaking after visiting people injured by the truck that tore through crowds of people gathered for the Bastille Day fireworks display in Nice.

"There are lots of children, young children who came with their families to see a fireworks display, for joy, to share happiness, and who were struck, killed to satisfy the cruelty of an individual and maybe a groupm," Mr. Hollande said.

Mr. Hollande called for national unity and said he would not stoop to knee jerk, excessive reactions.

"I call on this unity, cohesion, and strength for France to be stronger that those who want to do it evil. They are the evil ones and we are able to beat them because we are a France pulled together," Mr. Hollande said.
