As OTW pointed out, this indeed can couple ST Micro patent for ultra thin yet rigid Ferrite Shield.

However, I am having hard time dreaming up "use case" for the twin signaling (light and electric current) carrier. Perhaps it can be use in nano-electronics such as mix signal PCB.
