You stated specifically "Twitter and Facebook for a mining company are a joke!"

And I responded with Twitter and Facebook links to a half dozen or so of the largest mining companies in the world along with some relevant industry articles explaining why social media is important to mining companies. As such, it would be very difficult for anyone to agree with your contention when the largest mining companies in the world actively use these social media platforms and it is a trend being recognized by mining industry analysts and commentators.

Just google "mining companies social media" and that will provide you with enough relevant content that might help you see where your presumption may be a bit off.
