This has nothing to do with any one being able to do the job, this has to do with a colleague facing a a horrible surgery and a number of his protege
wanting to be there for him no more no less. The boss gave his blessing and the tournament was put off. Everyone will survive including the shareholders and I'll bet if Glenn had it to do over again he'd do the same thing.
