It wasn't long ago that prejudice against Catholics was as strong in America as it is today in England, especially against Irish Catholics. In the 1880s most Americans would have gladly hired a black or Mexican worker rather than an Irish Catholic.

The Irish were seen as noisy, dirty, argumentative drunks who had large families they couldn't support so typically resorted to theft.

Irish Catholics were typically depicted as resembling apes or dogs.

To show how quickly multi-culturalism has changed America, even my little brother married a Catholic.

The Irish declaration we're all familiar with

The one ingredient which won't mix - the Irish

Irish Catholic men apparently typically wore kitchen pots as helmets

Racial experts explained the Irish were a violent African tribe who had migrated to Northern Europe

Some believed the Irish were more closely related to dogs

The violence of the Irish and Catholics was well-documented

Irish Catholics were apparently hypersexual rapists

We've run out of other people's Social Security taxes needed to subsidize our low income tax rates.
