Concerning Buyout Scenario...

Could someone paint a picture of what happens to shareholders stock in a typicall buyout situation

specifically when the buyout is to avoid litigation and to acquire a patent that has been infringed upon?

I have a small bag.. and would like a slightly larger bag, but Buyouts for stock that has less potential overall is not really what im looking for unless the value is breakout return type %
