SAN DIEGO, CA --(Marketwired - June 16, 2016) - Medical Marijuana, Inc. (MJNA) announced today that it applauds the Mexican Senate for its unanimous approval of legalizing medicinal marijuana in Mexico. The Senate's vote supports Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto's proposal to reform Mexico's General Health Law and the country's Federal Penal Code to relax laws against marijuana, including medical use. In addition, national news outlets in Mexico continue to detail the increasing demand for medical marijuana throughout the country.

The marijuana reform bill, which was unanimously approved by the Mexican Senate on June 15, 2016, authorizes the use and importation of all medicine made with marijuana, subject to Mexican health laws. The bill also permits clinical research for medicines containing marijuana.

"We commend Mexico's new compassionate approach to cannabis and applaud Mexico lawmakers for making the decision to reform cannabis laws to benefit their citizens," said Dr. Stuart Titus, CEO of Medical Marijuana, Inc. "We are extremely proud to have been the first company to provide Mexico citizens with access to a medical product based on cannabis (THC-free hemp CBD), and with the Mexico Senate's decision today, we are looking forward to the opportunity of helping even more citizens that suffer from debilitating medical conditions with medicinal marijuana."

In addition to the landmark marijuana decision made by the Mexican Senate, national news outlets throughout Mexico continue to show the increase in demand for medical marijuana in the country. Animal Politico, an influential Mexico-City based independent news site dedicated to covering Mexican politics, recently covered the need for additional families across Mexico to gain access to Medical Marijuana Inc.'s RSHO-X cannabidiol (CBD) hemp oil. The story was published on the day after legislators met in a special session to discuss Mexico President Peña Nieto's initiative to decriminalize marijuana.

The Animal Politico article titled "Cannabis: la lucha de los padres que desafiaron a la justicia Mexicana," (Cannabis:the struggle of parents who challenge the Mexican justice system), highlights the demand for Medical Marijuna Inc.'s Real Scientific Hemp Oil-X™ (RSHO-X™) across Mexico for families with children suffering from debilitating medical conditions, and some of the challenges that remain for the parents seeking access to medical marijuana for their children.

"We're grateful that Animal Politico and other news outlets in Mexico continue to bring light to the additional families in Mexico who need access to our hemp oil in order to help their suffering children," Titus said. "We hope that with today's decision by the Mexican Senate to legalize medical marijuana, families will experience far fewer roadblocks when it comes to gaining access."
