The NRA and you can try using excuses for the U.S. Senate not to uphold their sworn duty to protect Am citizens, but after a +14 hour filibuster by Senate Dems, the NRA got the message - even if you haven't.
News reports this morning say Senate Repubs have finally agreed to allow a vote on banning people on the "watch-list" from obtaining gun licenses AND whether to expand background checks to gun shows and internet sales - apparently Sen Repubs got approval from their master, the NRA.

GOOGLE the closing comments this morning from Sen Chris Murphy (D-CT) where he referred to a 6-year old little boy in Sandy Hook elementary school named Dillion Obrian and the Special Ed teacher assigned to him - I dare you to come away with dry eyes and continue to debate technical reasons why assault weapons are o.k...GOOGLE coverage of the Orlando, FL massacre, and even if you don't care about gay human beings, I dare you to come away with dry eyes...GOOGLE coverage of the Aurora, CO massacre...GOOGLE coverage of the Virginia Tech massacre. Then come back and argue assault weapons are o.k. because of some technical reason the NRA dreamed up and anyone/everyone, including would-be terrorists/criminals, should be allowed to obtain assault weapons - no questions asked!

Yesterday I heard the AMA is going to get involved in the assault weapons debate, after all it's docs who see the end result of assault weapon attacks, who patch up the victims or pronounce them dead. Granted the AMA is a little late to this debate, but when the AMA finally got involved in the tobacco debate, tobacco sales plummeted.
