I presume you are aware of the Senate Dem's filibuster taking place on the Senate floor as I speak (7:40pm)...The filibuster began at 11:21am today by Sen Chris Murphy (D-CT) to remind everyone of the Dec 2015 massacre of (20) small children in a Newtown, CT school by a sick person with an assault weapon, and to this day there's been no action from our pols in DC to protect American citizens. Sen Murphy is trying to force a Senate discussion/vote on strengthening the background-check law to include the gun show loophole/internet gun sales, and enforce "no fly/no buy" - currently, someone on the no-fly list cannot fly, but they can buy a deadly weapon - huh?
Let's look at why Senate Repubs are afraid to have this discussion and what stands in the way of such legislation coming to the Senate floor for discussion, let alone a vote...You guessed it! - the NRA has a vice-like grip on the Repub party. Such a discussion/vote frightens the NRA so they instruct pols who depend on NRA campaign $$$ to just ignore talking about it.
As for you denying the AR-15 (Assault Rifle-15) is an assault weapon, GOOGLE what U.S. Marine, now Congressman Seth Moulton (MA), had to say on the front page of today's New York Daily News.
