It seems any time investors have their heart set on some speculative stock and then see that the stock does what most speculative stocks do best, go down, they assume it must be due to nefarious collusion by hedge funds.

It can't be something simple like traders going long on a newsletter induced pop and then taking profits, which in turn triggers stops that cause other long traders to get out. What we're seeing is a long squeeze.
