Andrea Tantaros: Trump Is Getting 'Disaffected Male Vote'

By Bill Hoffmann | Wednesday, 04 May 2016 06:28

Donald Trump's extraordinary ascension to presumed Republican presidential nominee is the result of frustrated male voters who've been demeaned by society, conservative political analyst Andrea Tantaros tells Newsmax TV.

"Look at who's supporting him? It's the disaffected male vote, the men who don't feel like the establishment speaks for them," Tantaros said Wednesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show."

"The men whose jobs have been sent to China or whose jobs are taken by illegals, right? They feel like they have a voice because economically they've been dismissed and discarded. Personally, they also feel that way too."

Tantaros is author of the new book "Tied Up in Knots: How Getting What We Wanted Made Women Miserable," published by Broadside, in which she discusses how "the rightful feminist pursuit of equality "went too far" and has affected both men as well as women.

"[It's] the wussification of America. The demeaning of men in commercials and TV. Where did that come from?" she told Malzberg.

Hillary Clinton, the presumed Democratic presidential nominee, is partially to blame for that societal shift, she believes.

"Hillary Clinton and her group … told women — especially my generation — that you don't need men. Remember that big message?" Tanatros said.

"So not only did Hillary and her crew say 'you don't need men.' She said that women need to act like men, you need to espouse the characteristics of men….

"Hillary Clinton when she made fun of women who stayed home and baked cookies. Trump should bring up that soundbite."

Tantaros explores the new world of changing social and sexual politics in her book.
"It's a totally different world and this book takes a look at the culture in a way that no conservative author ever has," she told Malzberg.

"I love feminism. I'm a direct beneficiary of it. But I point out where they went wrong by telling men that they're not needed and that women should act more like men."

Tantaros has been the popular host of Fox News' "Outnumbered," but has been absent from the air for the past week. Asked why, she said, "I can't talk about it."

Fox told AdWeek's TVNewser blog: "Issues have arisen regarding Andrea's contract, and Fox News Channel has determined it best that she take some time off. She is still under contract with the network."
