Apparently it wasn't an option and neither were the ones listed in my post.

Alex Rodriguez is heading to the 15-day disabled list.(MLB)

The Yankees have announced that designated hitter Alex Rodriguez will be placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring, and lefty reliever James Pazos will be recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Rodriguez underwent an MRI to check on his right hamstring after pulling up while running down the first base line in the Yankees' series opening loss against the Baltimore Orioles Tuesday night.

The veteran DH has hit .194 over 72 at-bats this season, with a team-high five home runs and 12 RBI. Three of Alex's five homers and six of his RBI came over his last four games, indicating he was finding his groove at the plate after a slow start.

Pazos, 24, is a 6-foot 2, 235 lb. left-handed reliever, who made his MLB debut last season for the Yankees. Last year he made 11 appearances and pitched five scoreless innings for the Bombers, allowing just three hits and striking out three.

This year, with the Triple-A RailRiders, Pazos has gone 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA over nine appearances, with 12 strikeouts and 10 hits allowed over 12 innings of work. He'll join a Yankees bullpen that has suffered its fair share of injury woes already this season, and could provide more depth as the team figures out what their plan is for Luis Severino, who has struggled.

The loss of Rodriguez, especially given his recent hot streak, will be another injury hurdle for the Bombers to overcome as they look to climb back into the AL East divisional race.

The Yankees will have another chance to gain some ground in the standings when they battle the Orioles in the second game of a three-game set Wednesday night on YES and Fox Sports GO. Coverage begins at 6:00pm EST.
