While appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers Tuesday night, former New York Yankees Captain Derek Jeter gave an interesting assessment of Red Sox fans, saying they haven't been the same since winning the World Series.
"I can say this now because I'm retired, but the Boston fans have softened up since [they] won," Jeter told Meyers.
Saying Red Sox fans have softened might rub some in Beantown the wrong way, but Jeter appears pretty content with the new-look Boston fanbase. With World Series trophies now on their mantles, Red Sox followers now go so far as to apologize to him for their fandom.
They say "I'm sorry, but I'm a Boston fan," Jeter claims before following up with, "that's fine. We're not at the Stadium. Just don't yell at me at restaurants."
For now.
