APDN Completes DNA Marking of 10,000 Bales of American Pima Cotton
Botanical-DNA based security and authentication solutions provider, Applied DNA Sciences (APDN) has successfully completed DNA marking of 10,000 bales of American extra long staple (ELS) cotton, at the fibre level, under its Signature T DNA project for one of the largest retailers in the US.
Signature T DNA project enables DNA markers to monitor supply chain integrity and trace the original fibres, before and after each of the manufacturing steps, often completed in a different country.

The project was completed for a US retailer of fine textiles, supplying finished goods to many American brands. The bales are on their way to Asia and other off-shore locations for conversion to finished goods, which are expected to hit the retail stores by this year.

Commenting on the completion of the project, James Hayward, CEO and president of APDN said, “This project marks the first deployment of APDN's DNA technology solutions in Asia, marking and authenticating pima cotton fibres grown in California.”

“It is a historic first step toward increased transparency and compliance for textile supply chains worldwide,” he added.

The implementation of the supply chain-driven solutions involves multiple corporate alliances for APDN. In combination, market valuations of the members of this supply chain total more than $200 billion. (MCJ)
