The Bible is an amazing Book----don't care how hard you try, don't care how many hours you read and study, don't care how many years you work at it----the learning of new things never ever cease, the new understandings & wisdom keep getting uncovered....I know many, even many very well highly educated folks say that much is just stories and so forth and I have at times thought maybe they were right, leaning upon their expertise and selling myself short. BUT, BUT, BUT, the more I try to get a grip on things from the Scripture, the more I understand that Scripture is truly the inspired Word of God....For me, reckon this is moving closer to God.....For several weeks I have been looking for answers, starting in Genesis and now well into Exodus and find it quite amazing that I have been reading the Scriptures now for maybe 26-27 years and to be quite frank, I don't know jack, but so thankful to be learning-----God grants knowledge & wisdom as one is able to handle it....the trick here is "DO NOT LEAN UPON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING"----you will only get yourself into trouble....always ask God to enable you to learn---at the same time I believe one has to have a genuine desire to learn or a real purpose for seeking answers to unanswered questions. I think the studying of Scripture is a very personal thing, one is building a relationship with God, Jesus Christ & the Holy Spirit...at times I have questioned another as to their understanding, then when I go to seek answers, I look for why I am wrong, or why I am missing the point---I rely on God to teach me and have learned that in His time, He has always brought the truth to me, one way or the other.
I started this just to share a real blessing with my friends here on Bible Board........OH!!!! My personal journey here is----The writers of the N.T. speak & quote the O.T. Scriptures, the only thing they had at the time, seeing as how there was no N.T. written back then-----I am seeking to learn more of their understanding of the O.T. writings, I am looking for Jesus, God,& the Holy Spirit, as the N.T. writers saw them------I have read & read much of the O.T. and continued to be dumb as a rock---OH yes I learned many nice little verses for strength & courage and so forth, but never had any real understanding what-so-ever----NOW entering into my study with a different frame of mind, I am seeing things I never saw before, I am understanding things I never understood before, "quite a trip I am on here"---after I learn, I want to keep in mind that I still don't know jack and am still dumb as a rock.
Ask and it will be given---seek and you will find---knock and it will be opened.................
You will never know the truth if you do not ASK....SEEK...KNOCK
