Foxes had never won a top-tier championship in their 132-year history

Leicester City became the most improbable champions in English Premier League history on Monday night, 10 months after starting the season as 5,000-to-1 outsiders.
The Foxes, which had never won a top-tier championship in their 132-year history, completed the biggest upset in sports this year with a roster full of misfits and castoffs plucked from the lower leagues of Europe, a payroll a fraction the size of its richer rivals, and a journeyman manager hired last summer. While everyone outside Leicester waited for them to fade, they outlasted the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City and Arsenal.

To the superclubs, it made no sense. And, in order to clinch on Monday, Leicester didn’t even have to play.
A dramatic 2-2 draw by second-place Tottenham at Chelsea meant that with two games remaining in the season it was no longer possible for Leicester to be overtaken.
