Wikipedia is not a valid source, especially because it is wrong.

OTCQX does not require SEC registration and the SEC has ZERO to do with the invented OTC "tiers". Neither the SEC nor FINRA recognizes them in any way.

OTCMarkets is a for-profit PR company. They invented those market "tiers" out of thin air to charge companies for the stock promotion a supposedly higher "tier" is used for. Those tiers are absolutely meaningless and the shares of the companies that write a check to OTCMarkets for the higher "tier" trade EXACTLY THE SAME as the shares of companies that don't. There is absolutely no difference.

The only thing that actually does matter is an SEC registration. That has specific regulatory and trading benefits. Writing a private PR company a check does not.
